Between the late 1820s and early 1830s, the illustrious local citizen and Austrian Consul in Egypt, Giuseppe Acerbi, managed to amass this significant collection of archaeological materials. In 1840, he donated them to the city of Mantua.
The first room displays fascinating sculptures, some enriched with hieroglyphs. Also on show are several pieces linked to the cult of the dead and devotion to the gods: from amulets to alabaster canopic jars. The collection is in the Palazzo Te museum.
